FRONTLINE

NOVEMBER 2022

Dear ELKS Supporter,

As we enter the season of thanksgiving, we are reflecting on all the things we’re grateful for—including you, our Fundraising Chairs! The generous support of donors and volunteers makes ENF programs possible. This year, that generosity and the fundraising efforts of committed ENF Chairs have brought us something new to be thankful for: reaching 5,000 Fidelity Club members! There are now more than 5,000 donors who give an automated donation every month. We’ve made a special video to celebrate this milestone and express our gratitude, which you can watch here.

Choosing and Using News

Frontline is designed only for Fundraising Chairs, but there are plenty of other resources you can and should share with your Lodge. Every month, the ENF posts new Speaking Points and News to Use to help you keep your Lodge members up to date. Click here for some inspiration on how to use ENF news. You can also use the example paragraph below for Elks Veterans Remembrance Month.

“Every November, the Order honors veterans for Elks Veterans Remembrance Month. With $4.6 million in ENF funding this year, the Elks National Veterans Service Commission will ensure that our commitment to veterans is year-round. Since the pandemic began, food and housing insecurity have increased, especially among the veteran population. The ENVSC meets this growing need by providing emergency housing assistance, supplying newly housed veterans with Welcome Home kits, and prioritizing opportunities for veterans without support systems to build relationships with community members."

Ask Your Volunteers!

Are you asking volunteers at your Lodge to donate to the ENF? Volunteers are some of the best candidates to ask! They are already giving their time and talents because they care about the ENF’s mission of helping Elks build stronger communities. Invite them to donate to the ENF-funded program they are most passionate about with a designated gift. Also, lead by example by participating in the Leadership Challenge with a personal monetary donation of any amount to the ENF this fiscal year. Leading by example is so important that it is one of the criteria for the Leadership Pin.

Face(book) the Facts

Are you a member of the ENF Fundraising Chair Facebook Group? Join to get updates directly from the ENF Development Team, gain inspiration from fellow Fundraising Chairs, and see popular myths about the ENF dismantled on Myth Bust Mondays. Myth: Only donations collected at the Lodge count toward per-member-giving. The truth: almost all donations—regardless of how they are collected—count toward the donor’s personal recognition totals and their Lodge’s per-member giving. Complete the Chair Challenge survey about myth-busting, and encourage donors to mail a check directly to the ENF or donate online—your Lodge will be credited either way!

Thinking About "Thank You"

During the season of thanks, show gratitude to those making a difference in your community. Don’t forget to thank your donors for all that they do! You can say thank you by presenting a recognition piece to a donor at a Lodge meeting, maintaining a recognition board, or by simply saying, “thanks.” Whether in person or through a letter, everyone appreciates being appreciated. Need some help figuring out what to say? This visual gives advice for building relationships with donors, how to ask them for donations, and how to thank them once they’ve given. Every part of the process is important, so don’t forget to give thanks!
